What the brush does
The Prestige pin brush made of pearwood is the brush to use after slicker brushing: it brushes through detangled fur right down to the skin, lays it in the direction of growth, removes any final loose hairs, and massages the skin in the process. The stainless steel pins are long, sturdy, and have rounded tips. Unlike a slicker brush, it does not remove knots; instead, it is the ideal brush for the daily routine and for the finishing touch on long-haired breeds. The Prestige Collection is manufactured in Germany.
Pearwood and STOP technology
The body is made of pearwood, a hard, fine-pored wood that is lightweight and does not warp. The pins are secured in the cushion with a locking mechanism: they cannot be pushed into the cushion and will not fall out, ensuring the pin pattern remains uniform for years. The cushion is elastic and gives way at bony areas, and the pins feature an anti-static coating.
Choosing the right pin length and size
The pin length depends on the length of the coat. 20 mm for medium-length fur (Spaniels, Havanese, Coton de Tulear). 27 mm for long fur (Golden Retrievers, Collies, Tibetan Terriers). 35 mm for very long or very dense fur (Afghan Hounds, Old English Sheepdogs, Newfoundlands, Bergamasco Shepherd Dogs). The head size depends on the animal: S (18.5 x 4.8 cm) for small to medium-sized dogs and cats, L (23 x 6.3 cm) for medium to large dogs.
Application and care
- First slick, then pin. Remove knots beforehand using a slicker brush or your fingers.
- Brush in the direction of hair growth using long, calm strokes down to the skin. Gentle pressure is fine; the rounded tips will not scratch.
- Cleaning: Pull out hair, wipe with a damp cloth if necessary, and store in a dry place. Do not submerge pearwood in water and do not dry on a heater.
