If you want to buy PET ESTHÉ, you quickly come across terms like Mud Shampoo, thalassotherapy and Coat Control. Behind them is a Japanese cosmetics manufacturer with a factory of its own, which develops coat care modelled on a Parisian dog salon. Here you can find out who is behind PET ESTHÉ, what makes the mud shampoos special and which series suits your dog.

Who is behind PET ESTHÉ

PET ESTHÉ is a brand of Merry Do Beauty Products Co., Ltd. from Tokyo. The company was founded in 1965 and makes cosmetics, including care products for animals. Production takes place at its own plant in Kitaibaraki in Ibaraki Prefecture, on a site of 12,000 m². The company profile also lists addresses in Paris and Shanghai.

The brand's idea comes from France. PET ESTHÉ follows the philosophy of the Paris salon A.D. Prince, which works with aromatherapy, thalassotherapy and massage. The manufacturer itself describes PET ESTHÉ as a brand that combines the spirit of Paris with Japanese innovation. In Europe, distribution is handled by an exclusive partner in Germany.

What the brand stands for

The guiding theme is rejuvenation. This means four things: a better coat, healthy skin, a clear coat colour and well-being for animal and human. To achieve this, PET ESTHÉ relies on ingredients better known from cosmetics for humans:

  • Mud from various regions of the world, which draws dirt out of the pores.
  • Dead Sea salt for the skin.
  • Propolis, the resin from the beehive.
  • Plant-based moisturising factors and extracts from marine plants.

According to its own statements, the manufacturer rejects animal testing and uses readily biodegradable raw materials of plant origin to protect rivers and seas.

The series at a glance

Mild Amino Acid: the gentle Mud range

The shampoos in this range are slightly acidic and cleanse with amino acids from sugar cane and tapioca, which are considered particularly kind to the skin. Mud is added as a source of minerals. There are three varieties: for all dogs, for white coats and for puppies. The variant for white coats also contains ingredients against yellowing.

Spa: for a thorough wash

The Spa range is developed for professional use. The Spa Mud General Shampoo and the matching conditioner are suitable for all breeds and every age. According to the manufacturer, the Spa Super White Shampoo works without bleach, with ingredients that enhance the light in the coat.

Thalassotherapy: Fuyodei natural mud

Fuyodei Natural Mud is a pack made of sea mud, mud from three countries, seaweed, jojoba oil and squalane. You massage it into the skin and coat and leave it to work. Afterwards the coat feels soft and supple.

Coat Control: controlling volume

With Pre Up and Pre Down you control how the coat falls. Pre Up gives fullness and lift, ideal for Bichon Frise and Poodles. Pre Down calms the coat and makes it smoother, suitable for Maltese and Yorkshire Terriers. One to two pumps go directly into the shampoo or conditioner. The conditioners Keep Volume Up and Keep Volume Down work on the same principle.

Professional Charcoal and accessories

The Charcoal range uses finely ground Japanese charcoal and bamboo charcoal, which absorb dirt and odours. There are also the One-Touch Clean foam, which needs no water, a lotion for detangling and a mixing bottle with a scale for dilution.

How to use a Mud Shampoo properly

  1. Brush the coat thoroughly before bathing. Knots get tighter in water.
  2. Soak the coat with lukewarm water right down to the skin.
  3. Dilute the shampoo with water in the mixing bottle and massage it in.
  4. Leave it on for a few minutes so the mud can do its work.
  5. Rinse until there is no more foam in the coat.
  6. Apply conditioner, rinse out, blow-dry and brush while doing so.

If your dog has red or flaky skin, ask your vet before the next bath.

Who PET ESTHÉ suits
