In short

  • Wet Brush is a hair brush brand from the USA; the Pro line comes from the hairdressing trade.
  • IntelliFlex bristles bend at a knot and therefore pull less on the skin.
  • The Detangler works wet and dry, the Shine Enhancer adds shine with boar bristles.
  • Ideal for long, fine coats, but no replacement for an undercoat rake or dematting tool.
  • cotonluv is an authorised dealer for Wet Brush Pro.

Many people know the Wet Brush from their own bathroom. Fewer know that groomers also use it on long dog coats. Here you will find out who is behind Wet Brush, what the Pro brushes do differently from a slicker brush and which coats they really suit. And where you can buy Wet Brush Pro in Germany.

Who is behind Wet Brush

Wet Brush is a hair brush brand from the USA. It is run by Eurasia Corporation, based in Hauppauge in the state of New York. The brushes were developed for human hair, for one very specific moment: detangling wet hair, when an ordinary brush tugs and hurts. Hence the name.

The Pro line comes from the hairdressing trade. These are the models used in salons. Groomers soon noticed that this same quality also helps with long, fine dog coats that pull on the skin with every stroke.

What IntelliFlex bristles do differently

The heart of every Wet Brush is its IntelliFlex bristles. They are thin, firm and very flexible. When a bristle meets a knot, it bends and glides over it instead of forcing its way through. That means less pulling, less breakage and less resistance from your dog.

There are also two details you will notice in your hand:

  • SofTips. The bristle tips are softly rounded. On sensitive skin this feels more like a massage than scratching.
  • EasyGrip handle. The rubberised surface with a finger rest does not slip even with wet hands, which matters after a bath.

Two brushes, two jobs

Wet Brush Pro Detangler

The Pro Detangler is the detangling brush. It works wet and dry, so after a bath and for daily brushing. In our range it succeeds the earlier Classic brush and is available in black, pink and purple.

How to brush with it:

  1. Start at the tips and work your way towards the skin in short strokes.
  2. At a knot, hold the strand at the base with your free hand so the pull does not reach the skin.
  3. After bathing, first press the coat out with a towel. With conditioner or a detangling spray in the coat, the brush glides even more easily.
  4. Finally, use a comb to check that the coat is clear right down to the skin.

Wet Brush Pro Shine Enhancer

The Shine Enhancer is the finishing brush. It combines natural boar bristles with IntelliFlex bristles. The boar bristles spread the skin's natural oils evenly from root to tip, which adds shine. The IntelliFlex bristles glide through small knots at the same time. Use it after blow-drying on dry, already detangled coats, in long strokes in the direction of growth. It also distributes care sprays or dry shampoo evenly. It too comes in black, pink and purple.

Which coats Wet Brush Pro suits

The brushes are made for long, fine, straight coats: Yorkshire Terrier, Maltese, Shih Tzu, Coton de Tuléar and Havanese. This is where they show their strength, because the coat is delicate and the dog feels every tug.

Just as important is what they are not meant for. A Wet Brush will not remove dense undercoat; for that you need an undercoat rake or a slicker brush. Nor will it loosen tight mats; a dematting tool and patience will help there. And on curly coats such as a Poodle or Bichon, a slicker brush usually reaches the skin better. So the Wet Brush is not a replacement for a slicker brush but the gentle addition for everyday care and the time after a bath.

What we recommend

  • For the daily brush on a Yorkie, Maltese or Coton: the Pro Detangler. Light knots come loose without your dog pulling away.
  • For the finish after blow-drying: the Shine Enhancer for shine in the topcoat.
  • As a pair: the Detangler for detangling, the Shine Enhancer for smoothing. Add a spray from our combing aids so the bristles glide even more easily.

Why we stock Wet Brush Pro

We stock the Wet Brush Pro because it can do something on fine, long coats that metal brushes cannot: it gives way. This makes all the difference, especially with dogs that get restless during brushing. cotonluv is an authorised dealer for Wet Brush Pro.
