If you want to buy a Petstro dog buggy, you face four models that look similar at first glance. The difference lies in the load capacity, the wheels and the doors. Here you can find out who is behind Petstro, what makes the buggies stand out and which model suits your dog.

Who is behind Petstro

Petstro is a brand of Pettio Corp. from New Taipei City in Taiwan. The company launched the first Petstro dog buggy in 2003. Since then, almost everything there has revolved around one product: buggies in which dogs and cats can ride safely. Petstro itself describes its range as one of the most extensive in the industry and today sells it in more than 15 countries.

The brand's principles are quickly told: focus on one thing, pay attention to detail and look at the world from the animal's point of view. The aim is for dog and owner to be out and about together more. Part of the concept is also that Petstro offers spare parts and repairs. A buggy should not be finished after the first flat tyre.

What makes a Petstro dog buggy

The models we stock share many basic features:

  • Pneumatic tyres at the back. They cushion cobblestones and forest tracks. Skyline has air wheels at the front as well.
  • Swivelling front wheel. The buggy can be steered with one hand, even in narrow aisles.
  • Safety tether inside. Your dog is clipped on at the harness and cannot jump out.
  • Brake and reflectors. Important on slopes, at traffic lights and at dusk.
  • Sky window and mesh fabric on the JetPro, Skyline and Silver Wing. Your dog can see outside and the air circulates.
  • Foldable. The Safari folds up in seconds without tools and then fits in the boot.

On the large models, the frame is made of painted steel tubing and the cover of robust 600D polyester. Surfaces can be wiped with a damp cloth.

The four models at a glance

Safari: the all-rounder up to 30 kg

The Safari is the all-rounder of the range. It carries dogs up to 30 kg, is manoeuvrable and can be folded in a few simple steps. For a Coton de Tuléar, Maltese or Havanese there is plenty of room to lie down and turn around.

JetPro: up to 30 kg, with all-round view

The JetPro is the same size as the Safari but has a design of its own with a sky window. It is the choice if your dog likes to keep everything in view.

Skyline: the XL model up to 45 kg

Skyline is built for medium-sized and large dogs or for two smaller dogs. Air wheels at the front and back make it run smoothly, even off the tarmac.

Silver Wing: the XXL model up to 55 kg

Silver Wing is the largest buggy in the range. It has two doors: your dog gets in at the back and out at the front. That helps older dogs in particular, which can no longer turn around easily in the buggy.

For whom a dog buggy makes sense

  • Older dogs that can no longer manage the whole walk but want to be there.
  • Dogs after an operation that need to take it easy. Ask your vet when exercise is allowed again.
  • Shows, where the freshly groomed coat should not touch the ground.
  • Town, market and station, where small paws are easily overlooked.
  • Owners of several dogs and breeders who take several small dogs along at the same time.

Here is how to find the right size: weigh your dog and measure it standing, from the nose to the base of the tail and from the floor to the top of the head. Choose a model whose load capacity is above the weight with a margin. If you are taking two dogs, the combined weight counts.

Accessories and spare parts

For the Safari and JetPro there is a bicycle tow bar that turns the buggy into a trailer. Petstro states it fits models 702 and 706, that is Safari and JetPro. There are also a rain cover, a grooming board with table for shows, and spare parts such as front wheel, rear wheel, axle and replacement covers. If a part wears out after years, you replace it instead of buying a new buggy.

Why we stock Petstro

Anyone who takes a long-haired dog to a show knows the problem: the dog is fully groomed, the way to the ring is long and the floor is dirty. In everyday life it is similar when the dog gets older and the walk too long. We chose Petstro because the buggies are sturdy, drive well and can be repaired with spare parts. cotonluv is an authorised dealer for Petstro. If you are unsure which model fits, send us your dog's weight and measurements via WhatsApp, along with a photo.
