Who is behind Chadog

Chadog Diffusion is a French wholesaler and manufacturer of pet supplies based in Aytré near La Rochelle. The company supplies dog grooming salons, breeders and specialist shops. Its range includes more than 7,000 items from over 200 international suppliers, stored in a warehouse of 65,000 square metres.

So Chadog is not just a toy manufacturer but a full-range supplier for everything to do with dogs: from grooming tables and dryers to combs and scissors, leads, beds and toys. How the plush toys are made

Chadog plush toys rely on two sounds that dogs love:

• Squeakers. A small squeaker inside squeaks when the dog bites or presses it. Sergio the sheep even has one in each leg.
• Crinkle. The flat models have a film inside the body that rustles with every bite. That appeals to the hunting instinct without making the toy loud.

The flat animals such as the beaver and the Raton are 45 cm long and each has a squeaker in the head and one in the tail. Because they are flat, they are easy to carry and shake, a game many dogs love. All our Chadog plush toys are washable at 30 degrees.

• Turtle, 20 cm, 63 g. Small and light, squeaks when bitten. Fits in the mouth of small dogs and puppies.
• Flamingo, 24 cm. A soft plush toy for carrying and cuddling.
• Sergio the sheep, 30 cm, 115 g. Fluffy, with long legs and a black head, with a squeaker in each leg.
• Beaver and Raton, 45 cm each. Flat, crinkly, with two squeakers. For medium-sized dogs and all those who love a good shake.

How to choose the right plush toy

The size depends on the dog, not on the human's taste. As a rule of thumb, the toy should be big enough for your dog to carry comfortably, but not disappear completely into its mouth. For a Maltese or Coton de Tuléar, the turtle and the flamingo are right. A Labrador will cope better with the 45 cm beaver.

Then the type of play counts. Some dogs carry their plush toy around the home like a treasure and sleep with it. Others want to open it up as quickly as possible. Plush toys are ideal for carriers and cuddlers. For dogs that tear everything apart, plush is a toy for shared time, not for the dog on its own.

Playing safely

Even the sturdiest plush toy wears out when a dog plays roughly with it. So here are a few simple rules:

1. Stay nearby when your dog plays with a new toy, and watch how it handles it.
2. Check the plush toy regularly for holes, loose seams and parts sticking out.
3. Take it away as soon as the stuffing or the squeaker comes out. Swallowed parts can be dangerous.
4. Rotate the toys. Something that has spent a few days in the cupboard becomes exciting again.
5. Wash the plush toys at 30 degrees when they are dirty, and let them dry completely.

If your dog has swallowed a piece after all and gags, vomits or stops eating, call your vet immediately.
